Tone and audience
Decide who the docs are for before anything gets written.
Before a run, tell DocSpell who's going to read the docs. It plans the pages around your answers, so you get a set of focused pages instead of one giant wall of text.
The basics#
| Setting | Options |
|---|---|
| Tone | Professional, friendly, concise, or detailed |
| Audience | Beginner, intermediate, or advanced |
| Length | Short, medium, or long pages |
| Emoji | On or off, for page icons and headings |
Going further#
The Advanced tab has the rest:
- Style example: paste a page you like and DocSpell matches its shape
- Page structure: the sections you want on every page, one per line
- Custom instructions: anything else, like "Use British English"
- Code examples always, where helpful, or never
- Title style, and how deep headings may nest
Saved for next time#
All of it is saved with the doc space. A rerun starts from the same settings, so you only set this up once.
